Physical therapy (PT) evaluation

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]The PT evaluation is an assessment done on the first visit by a licensed physical therapist to determine the baseline mobility status of a patient as well as learn about their specific needs. After a medical history is obtained, a focused exam is performed to assess skin integrity, muscle strength, and range of motion, as well as to evaluate for the presence of contractures, and neurological deficits. At the end of the initial evaluation, a plan of care is discussed with the patient that includes goals for mobility as determined by both the PT and the patient. The PT evaluation is a one hour session.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]

Discovery consult

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]This is a complimentary 15-minute session that allows you, as the patient, to “interview” your prospective physical therapist. I believe that a relationship deeply rooted in trust between provider and patient is crucial for a successful outcome and that this trust begins with a frank conversation in which you are able to ask your therapist all your questions! This discovery consult also allows the therapist to get to know you and what your goals and needs are. In effect, it gives us a “jumping” point from which to develop a plan of care specifically tailored to your needs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]

Physical therapy follow up visit

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]After the initial PT evaluation, patients will come into the clinic between 1 and 5 times a week depending on their particular needs in order to work on their mobility goals including muscle strengthening, range of motion, transfers, gait training, skin care management, and most importantly, education in the proper use of their prosthesis and its daily use. The PT follow up visits are one hour sessions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]

Live Facebook feeds

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_column_text]I host a live Q&A session on Facebook on Wednesdays evenings at 8:30 pm EST. This is a no-cost interactive forum, where I answer questions, give advice, and (often times) get the chance to learn valuable insights from the participants as well. You can join me directly at https://www.facebook.com/cositalks or you can visit my website at https://www.CosiTalks.com for more details/[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
